BCI collaborates with DAV for experiential learning

Hyderabad:  The delegate faculty of British Council of India, interacted with students of DAV Public School, as part of the connecting classroom project, here on Tuesday. The five- day innovative programme stressed on the need for experiential learning in Indian education system and encouraged active participation of parents in the overall development of students. 

 From working on teaching models in Indian schools to focusing on several aspects such as health and fitness, transport system that indirectly affect a student’s performance, the delegate faculty comprising of Kim Taylor and Pauline Foley will be collaborating with the special needs teachers of DAV Public School in order to enhance productivity in students needing extra care for their academics. 

Apart from bridging gaps in the education system of the west and east, the faculty conducted several activities under the “Zero Wastage” programme to imbibe the habits of cleanliness and hygiene into the young minds.

K.Parthipan, Prinicipal of DAV opined that the project was a great opportunity for both the students and faculty to absorb the goodness of British schools and also to indulge themselves in new ways of learning concepts or teaching techniques.

 As a part of the orientation session, the delegate faculty answered questions of the students and teachers varying from differences in Indian and British schooling systems to how a student could enjoy long classes without being distracted.

 Speaking on the occasion, Foley said, “Children are children, be it in any part of the world. But the enthusiasm that we have been welcomed with is overwhelming.We are waiting to know them up and close but are equally nervous on how we would break the ice between us.  Foot-tapping music and dance performances of students mesmerised the guest faculty who seemed in full awe of Indian culture and tradition.

 They also participated in special prayers held on the school premises marking new beginnings of a healthy and peaceful relationship between India and Britain.  Addressing the challenges that lay ahead in the project, Kim urged parents to take full responsibility of their children and said that they would also plan to organise special workshops for them to bond with their wards.
