Qualcomm Snapdragon Unveils Snapdragon 888 5G SoC
Qualcomm started its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit Digital 2020 today. During its two-day virtual conference held in virtual format this year due to the pandemic, Qualcomm announced its flagship 888 5G chipset.
The recently released Snapdragon 888 system-on-chip comes with the company's third-generation Snapdragon X60 5G RF-modem system that fosters global compatibility by offering mmWave and sub-6 on all major brands around the world. It also offers support for 5G carrier aggregation, global multi-SIM, standalone, non-standalone, and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, among others.
Qualcomm announced that its Snapdragon 888 SoC comes with the new 6th generation Qualcomm AI Engine, powered by Qualcomm Hexagon processor. Offers 26 tera per second (TOPS) operations. It also features the second-generation Qualcomm Sensing Hub, which incorporates lower-powered always-on AI processing for intuitive and intelligent functions.
The recently released Snapdragon 888 also features Snapdragon Elite Gaming, which helps achieve a frame rate of up to 144 frames per second (fps), and Adreno GPU. Furthermore, it features advanced computational photography along with Qualcomm Spectra ISP that can capture images and videos at 2.7 gigapixels per second or approximately 120 photos at 12MP resolution, which is up to 35% faster than the previous generation.
Qualcomm said that Snapdragon 888 5G would be compatible with devices from ASUS, BlackShark, Lenovo, LG, MEIZU, Motorola, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sharp, Vivo, Xiaomi and ZTE.
