7 held for smuggling Rs 24 lakh worth ganja in Adilabad
Seven members of a ganja smuggling gang were arrested by the Adilabad police and seized 160 kg of ganja that is estimated of Rs 24 lakh. The police also seized 3 cars, Rs 2 lakh cash from their possession.
According to the DSP Venkateshwara Rao, the arrested were transporting ganja to Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana via Adilabad. The arrested were identified as Rathod Bikku alias Bablu from Utnoor, Mohammad Amjed Ali Khan (Utnoor), Jadhav Vilas (Asifabad), Shatruvar Lakshman Singh (Utnoor), Pawar Rajesh (Utnoor), Tharifkhan (Haryana), Shaik Sharbuddun alias Sher (Adilabad).
The police said that all the arrested were car drivers. They started smuggling ganja for easy money. The arrested said that they have bought ganja from Sileru in Vishakapatnam and were shipping in 2 kg packets by renting cars.
Based on specific information, the Cybercrime police and a special team intervened in the gang and arrested them.
