8 Maoist militia members arrested in Cherla

Cherla (Kothagudem): The Cherla police have arrested eight Maoist militia members at Kaliveru crossroads in the district on Wednesday late hours.

Presenting the arrested members before the media on Thursday, Circle Inspector P Satyanarayana informed that the police detained them when they were found moving suspiciously during the vehicle checks by local police, CRPF 141/ A Battalion and special party police at Kaliveru crossroads on Wednesday night.

When the police found some persons coming from Pedhamidiselur village suspiciously, they stopped them and checked. When they tried to escape, the police chased them and apprehended.

The police recovered 30 gelatin sticks, eight detonators and two plastic bags for supply to Maoists from their possession. The arrested members were identified as Padda Idamaiah, Madakam Somudu, Podiyam Chennaiah, Ravva Mallaiah, Madakam Budra, Komaram Bujanga Rao, Thurram Ramesh and Mangaiah.

They were working as militia members for the banned CPI (Maoist) party for the last two years, informed the CI. The arrested were sent to judicial custody.
