Maoist couple surrenders to Cherla police
Kothagudem: A Maoist couple, Sodi Narasimha Rao alias Manoj and Podiam Sanni alias Ranitha, has surrendered before Cherla police in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district.
Manoj was the CPI (Maoist) party Indravelli-Khanapur-Mangi area committee secretary and his wife Sanni was member of the committee, informed Kothagudem Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt at a press conference here on Tuesday.
Narasimha Rao, who hails from Kurnapalli of Cherla mandal, joined the Maoist party in 2007 as Venkatapuram dalam member. He worked as the security guard of party's Telangana State Committee secretary Haribhushan. Later, he was promoted as Khanapur-Mangi area committee secretary in 2017, the SP informed.
He took part in exchange of fire between police and Maoists that took place at Puvvarthim in Sukma in 2013, CRPF camp Vampa, Lankapalli in Bijapur, Rangapur in Warangal in 2015, Botetang in Sukma of Chhattisgarh and Marwada of Maharashtra in 2018.
Sanni joined the Maoist party in 2013. She was transferred to the team of Bade Chokka Rao alias Damodar and worked in the team till 2017. She was later sent to Khanapur-Mangi area committee as ACM and has participated in exchange of fire at Botetang in Sukma of Chhattisgarh and Marwada of Maharashtra in 2018 and attack on police at Pamedu in 2016.
The SP informed that both the surrendered Maoists were vexed up with Maoist ideology and desired to join mainstream to lead a normal life. Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra and Officer on Special Duty D Uday Kumar Reddy were present.
