Age hike row: Police prevent doctors attempt to lay sieze to DME office
Hyderabad: Members of the Telangana Government Doctors Association tried to lay sieze to the office of Director of Medical Education (DME) in Koti on Tuesday afternoon.
After an urgent meeting earlier where it was decided to raise strong opposition to the proposed move of the government to increase the retirement age of teaching faculty in Government Medical Colleges from existing 58 years to 65 years, doctors reached the DME office only to be stopped by police personnel.
Hordes of policemen were seen stationed in and around the area as a precautionary measure. Meanwhile, Telangana Junior Doctors Association had submitted a letter to the DME office announcing boycott of elective duties in teaching hospitals across the state.
