Bathukamma saris distributed to women in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: Stressing that the 9-day festival of Bathukamma festival is a big celebration for the people of Telangana which depicts the true Telangana culture and tradition of the State, Devarkadra MLA Alla Venkateshwar Reddy urged the women across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district to wear the new Bathukamma saris provided by the government and take part in the 9-day Bathukamma festival and celebrate it with full fervour.

The MLA distributed saris to the women folks in Kottakota mandal of Wanaparthy district on Wednesday. While speaking on the occasion, "Bathukamma festival is our State festival. The State government every year since the formation of Telangana is celebrating it officially by distributing saris to the women across the State.

In fact, earlier governments in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh rule had tried to suppress our festivals and our culture, but after formation of Telangana, we could restore our festivals and culture and celebrating it in a big way," said the MLA.
