Bhadradri district bags second place in Haritha Haram drive

Kothagudem: The Bhadradri-Kothagudem district stood in second place in the State in planting trees and geo-tagging them under Haritha Haram programme in 2019  and 2020.

Thanks to the district administration for keeping the district after Rajanna Sircilla district in the State. With the efforts of District Collector Dr MV Reddy and other officials, 120 per cent success was achieved by planting 140 lakh plants out of the target of 118 lakh in 2019-2020 in the district. Likewise, the district achieved 93 per cent success for geo-tagging 132 lakh plants.

Last year, the district administration with the cooperation of other departments had planted 1,46,26,814 plants out of the target of 1,54,62,327 plants and achieved 94.54 percentage. When it comes to geo-tagging, it achieved 73 per cent by geo-tagging 1,06,93,874 trees.

The administration prepared an action plan to plant about 1,04, 40,000 plants next year. District Rural Development Project Director G Madhusudhan Raju said on the directions of District Collector MV Reddy, they are focusing on avenue planting and raising nurseries. He also said that they

have planned to raise nurseries in 481gram panchayats in

the district and the process is going on.

Collector Dr MV Reddy said that they have secured second place in the State because of team effort and all departments worked with commitment.

In the coming years also, they will work hard to keep the district in first place, he added. 'We are planning to plant more trees on roadsides and identification of places is going on.'
