Bhongir: Two held for illegal transportation of explosives
Bhongir: In a joint operation, Bibinagar and special operation police team nabbed two persons in connection with illegal transportation of explosive materials. DCP Narayana Reddy briefed the case details at a press meet at his camp office in Bhongir on Friday.
The DCP said Neelam Praveen and Arukuti Rajashekar of Siddipet were drivers by profession and befriended Polereddy Baskar Reddy of same district. In order to earn easy money in a short span of time, the trio decided to sell electric detonators used for blasting to others, which is illegal.
P Bhaskar Reddy, who is a dealer at Kistapur in the district, told Praveen and Rajashekar that he will supply detonators. On June 7, Bhaskar Reddy went to Salvo Company located on the outskirts of Ankireddypalle of Keesara mandal and did billing for two detonator boxes and a few explosives by using his employer name. He hid the boxes in a Mahendra vehicle (AP 29U 9030), which was parked in the parking lot of the same company and informed his friends about this.
As per Bhaskar Reddy's directions, Praveen and Rajashekar shifted the hidden boxes in Mahendra vehicle to Praveen's vehicle on June 11. On reliable information, special operations team led by Bhongir Rural CI Surender Reddy and SOT CI Naveen Kumar carried out vehicle checkup at Pedda Parvathapuram of Bibinagar mandal and took the duo into custody on the charges of illegal transportation of blasting material without license. They seized detonator boxes and other blasting materials from their possession.
The DCP informed that the duo accepted their crime during interrogation and said the police will arrest Bhaskar Reddy soon.
