British Royal Family member's tour in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Sophie Helen Rhys, a member of the British Royal Family will be visiting city on Monday.
She is scheduled to visit Gandhi, Niloufer and LV Prasad Eye hospitals to oversee the progress of ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity), which is a potentially blinding disease caused by abnormal development of retinal blood vessels in premature infants.
Sophie, who is the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth-II, having married her youngest son Prince Edward is the vice patron of Diamond Jubilee Trust run by Queen Elizabeth-II.
It is extending services in four places in Telangana including Gandhi and Niloufer hospitals in Hyderabad and one hospital each in Sangareddy and Nalgonda.
Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, is scheduled to visit Gandhi hospital at 11 am and visit NICU, Inborn, Outborn, Incubator units as well as few wards in Neonatology department in the hospital.
From 2015 onwards, nearly four thousand infants were treated in Gandhi Hospital as part of the ROP procedure.
