Call to devise ways to make Hyderabad beggar-free

Hyderabad: As part of making Hyderabad a beggar-free city, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan held a meeting with NGOs, traffic police, MEPMA, Labour, revenue and social welfare and UCD officials on shifting and rehabilitation of beggars.

The Mayor instructed the officials to make a plan of action for establishment of rehabilitation centers with providing all basic amenities like, sufficient toilets, beds and blankets, walk area, recreation facilities, health camp, counseling centers etc.

He called for identifying 2 to 3 acres of land at peripheral areas for establishing shelters categorising. Old age people men and women, mentally challenged persons men and women, children boys and girls and transgender. If they are provided all basic amenities and infrastructure at these catergory wise shelters it will be easy to look after their well-being in providing food, shelter, health chekup, training to youth on skill development and with installation of CC cameras it is easy to provide security to them.

Additional Commissioner Shankeraiah, IG Saidaiah, project director Sowjanya and representatives of NGOs, senior officials from UCD participated in the meeting.
