Hyderabad: Communal violence in Delhi sparks protests

Hyderabad: The students of English and Foreign Language University and (EFLU) students union called for a complete boycott of classes, resenting the communal violence in Delhi. They gathered on the campus to mark their protest against the violence triggered by the 'fascist rhetoric' indulged in by a section of society. The students also took out a march on the campus.

Earlier on Tuesday, EFLU and Osmania University students staged a joint protest at Osmania Arts College.

The EFLU Anti-CAA Coordination Committee in collaboration with different student organisations in OU organised the protest, expressing deep concern over brutal attacks carried out by armed goons. A retired professor of Osmania University, Padmaja Shaw, extended the solidarity of teachers' community to the victims of the worst communal violence in the recent decades.

"It (communal cauldron) is due to the silence of our generation you have to see these days. But I am glad to see that the students, the youngsters are giving a thought fight to the fascists. This is what we need," said Professor Shaw.

Other speakers included Ravinayak (SFI), Dr Talha (SiO State President), Janardhan (DSU), Lenin (PDSU), Naresh (DMSA), Sulthana (MSF), Sumer (AISF), Korvi Balakrishnan (TVV), Sahithi (CMS), and Salim Pasha (TYF), and Samar Ali and Harshal, general secretary and vice-president of EFLU SU respectively, spoke.

Similarly, on Wednesday the student union of Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Gachibowli, called one-day university band against communal violence. Students took rally from all the hostel and gathered at Main Gate. Hundreds of students gathered to protest.
