Cops move swiftly, crack vet's murder case within 48-hours

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police cracked the murder case of veterinary doctor Priyanka Reddy within 48-hours and arrested four persons.

The accused were identified as Mohammed alias Areef (26, lorry driver), Jollu Shiva (20, lorry cleaner), Jolly Naveen (20, lorry cleaner) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu (20, lorry driver).

Cyberabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar said that a request would be made to handover the case to the fast track court, Mahbubnagar to expedite the prosecution for maximum punishment to the accused.

The Commissioner said that the case was detected with the help of CCTV analysis and eyewitnesses and human intelligence. He said they were going to interrogate the accused further to get the incident details.

He requested women, senior citizens and public to call police when in distress.

According to the Commissioner, lorry driver Mohammed parked his vehicle near Tondupalli Tollgate in Shamshabad with his cleaner Jollu Shiva and two other accomplices on Tuesday since the delivery of the load could not be made as the receiver was not reachable.

They decided to wait there until they get further orders regarding the load. The four accused saw the victim parking her vehicle near the toll plaza at 6 pm on Wednesday and while consuming alcohol they discussed about the woman and had hatched a plan to rape her.

As part of their plan, Naveen punctured the back tyre of victim's two-wheeler and waited for her to return. She finished her work at Gachibowli and returned to toll plaza at 9:18 pm.

Mohammed approached her and told her that her vehicle's back tyre was punctured and offered to get it repaired and the victim innocently agreed and fell into their trap.

Meanwhile, the victim called her sister and informed about the problem and also described the physical features of the accused and told her that she was scared. Her sister advised her to go to the toll plaza and wait there till the vehicle gets repaired.

Shiva informed the victim that the repair shop was closed and told her that he would be going to other repair shop and left. Then Mohammed, Naveen and Chennakeshavulu forcibly took her inside the compound nearby, where Shiva also joined after a while, and all four accused raped her. Mohammed forcibly closed her mouth and nose till she died.

Later, Mohammed and Chennakeshavulu put the body in the lorry cabin. Shiva and Naveen drove the two-wheeler towards Shadnagar while Mohammed and Chennakeshavulu took the lorry ahead of them.

Later, Shiva and Naveen collected petrol in a loose bottle from a petrol bunk near Kothur. They all stopped near JP Dargah crossroads in Kothur and took diesel in a bottle from their lorry.

Then they took U-turn near Shadnagar crossroads and stopped on the road above the underpass.

They carried the body to the underpass by covering it in a blanket and set it ablaze using petrol and diesel and absconded from the scene.

After a while the two accused went back to check if the body was properly burnt or not on the victim's two-wheeler and then disposed the vehicle near Kothur.

Afterwards they reached Aram Ghar crossroad in the lorry where Shiva, Naveen and Chennakeshavulu got down whereas Mohammed took the lorry to deliver the load in the city.
