Cyberabad CP pats constable for winning nation's top honour in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, on Monday, congratulated police constable G Shiva Kumar of Shadnagar police station for being awarded with the Prime Minister's Police Medal for Life Saving Award for the year of 2018.

On 9 October 2017, while Shiva Kumar performing duty along with Inspector of police, they received a message that a person by name G Shekar Goud (32) accidentally fell into flowing water of Nagulapally Lake and went along with the flow and got stuck inside the lake along with his bike. The incident took place due to the heavy and continuous rains.

Immediately, Shiva Kumar along with Inspector of police reached the spot and rescued the victim with the help of ropes. He also went into the flowing water and rescued the victim by putting his life into risk.

The constable brought the victim from an approximate distance of 100 metres to safe zone in the middle of the night. The rescue operation took one-and-a-half-hour time. The victim was given medical aid and handed over to his inmates.

Appreciating the efforts of Shiva Kumar, VC Sajjanar said that every police official should strive to win the confidence of people by going beyond duty call to save lives of people. The CP said Shiva Kumar took the extreme step to save the life of a victim unmindful of danger to his own life.
