Deadly Twist To Disha Rape-Murder Case

Update: 2019-12-07 02:08 IST

The grisly rape-murder of veterinarian Disha took a deadly turn in the wee hours of December, 6, Friday when the cops shot dead all the four accused when the latter tried to flee from the clutches of the accompanying police.

It is no secret that Disha macabre episode evoked an avalanche of criticism from all sections of society. The incident spawned angry protests all over the country, as women's rights organisations, students and netas of different shades and hues, in chorus demanded death penalty to the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

While the people who are in the know of things about Cyberabad top cop Sajjanar's style of functioning, have anticipated an 'electrifying' end to the raging episode, the naive are stupefied as the powers-that-be never gave any inkling about its intended reaction to the gory act.

While the government or rather police, in one stroke staved off the spiralling public backlash against the Disha incident with the 'killing' of four accused in the encounter, human rights' activists are squirming in protest over the encounter killings.

It seems that public outrage eclipsed the ambiguous voices which made feeble attempts for ensuring fair trial for the accused.

Ironically, the same police, who a week ago came in for severe criticism all over the nation, including in Parliament, for their alleged inaction in responding to the victim's family's plea in registering a case, were Friday hailed and appreciated for their action as super heroes for delivering instant justice to the victim and her family.
