Gandhiji's personal secretary prefers British rule

Old Alwal: V Kalyanam who was the personal secretary to the father of the nation-Mahatma Gandhi during the period 1943-1948 says that he preferred British rule to present one in India. "I am unhappy with the changes that have taken place in India. Whatever is going on in the country is not right with women unable to protect themselves. Mission Kavach has taken a step forward to teach self defence to young girls."

He was speaking at a programme, 'Mission Kavach,' organised by social activist Nadimpalli Yamuna Pathak under the aegis of Global Angles Charitable Trust at Zilla Parishad High School, Alwal, here on Friday. Mission Kavach aims at making girls fearless with the help of self-defence training programme.

Yamuna Pathak said: "The aim of Mission Kavach is for men to speak up for women's safety and cover 1 lakh women in 4 months. Further going, we intend to rope in several accomplished men to stand up for Mission Kavach, such as IAS, IPS officers, celebrities and other national personalities. If we look at any newspaper there is news about women harassment, violence every day. This Mission Kavach has started here and is going to spread where all the men will speak for women's safety. The girls should be trained to become mentally and physically strong."

Ashwin Anand, an international martial art trainer, has taken an initiative to enhance self-defence preparedness among adolescent girls once in a week for free. Speaking to The Hans India, ZP school principal Sandhya said, "This mission has opened 'Kavach Raksha' which aims at the self-defence of the girls. This was organized in our school to teach the girls to make them physically strong."
