Hyderabad: Modern technology in use for laying roads in Musheerabad

Update: 2020-02-14 02:24 IST

Musheerabad: Ramnagar corporator V Srinivas Reddy, along with GHMC AE Murali and contractor Rasheed, the road works using vacuum dewatering cement concrete (VDCC) technology at Suryangar with an estimated cost of Rs 34 lakh on Thursday. The new technology is being used in construction of roads, which would prevent water stagnation and damage to the roads. The vacuum dewatering process basically improves strength, durability, and other properties of concrete by reducing the water-cement ratio. Due to dewatering through vacuum, both workability and high strength are achieved simultaneously. Reduction in water-cement ratio may increase the compressive strength by 10 to 50% and lowers the permeability.

Speaking on the occasion, V Srinivas Reddy said that work for 130 meters of the road had been laid and the remaining 100 meters is expected to be completed within the next ten days. He said that the road was being laid to prevent frequent damage of road due to inundation and waterlogging in the area. The storm water lines have been thoroughly desilted and 50 catchpits were rebuilt to prevent waterlogging in the area, he stated.

Among those who were present during the inspection were TRS division working president Vivek, SC cell president Satyanarayan, GS Gnan Kumar, ward member Anand, senior leaders Nagaiah, Narsing Rao, Prakash and others.
