Hyderabad: SC converts should be given BC certificates

Amberpet: Members of National SC Reservations Protection Committee alleged that irregularities were found in issuing SC certificates. On Wednesday, the committee president Sudhakar Manda, general secretary Someshwar, and Amberpet BJP party convener Ajay Kumar met Tahsildar Venugopal and submitted a memorandum urging him to ensure that STs who were converted to Christianity be removed from the category and BC certificates be given to them.

While issuing SC caste certificates, field inspection should be done to verify if the person still practices Hinduism, he said. If the person is found to be converted into other religions, SC caste certificates should not be given to him, he said. As per the Presidential Order, those who convert to Christianity should be given BC certificates as per GO MS number 1793.

Among those who met the Tahsildar were SC leaders T Shiva, RVL Ramesh, Bhaskar, Balaveer, Shiva, Srinivas, Prem, Anand Ram, Chander, Suresh, Venkatesh, Ravinder, Lakshman, Vinay, Haribabu and others.
