Hyderabad: Survey of illiterates from Feb 24 in Serlingampally

Serlingampally: The 10-day enumeration of illiterates is to begin on February 24. Vatsala, Project Officer, UCD said, "We will be conducting door-to-door survey to identify the number of illiterates in the city from Feb 24 for which we have allotted nodal officers who are the present assistant executives to supervise the survey."

According to the registered records after surveying 3,51,692 houses in 685 locations covering 15 wards in Serlingampally have been identified.

A person unable to read and write would be considered illiterate. Persons above the age 18 age would be part of the survey. "As per the 2011 Census, the illiterates in Hyderabad are around 5 Lakh with the attempt of the 'Each One Teach One' program we expect to reduce the literacy rate, she added.

250 households were designated to one survey in-charge and the in-charge supposed to visit door-to-door and record the status. The basic details such as name of the household, age, gender, phone number are recorded by the survey in-charge.
