Online Building Approvals in Telangana: TS-BPass to be in force from next month

Hyderabad: The Telangana government will be implementing the TS-BPass (Telangana Building Approval and Self-Certification System) state-wide including Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits from June.

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao on Thursday had a review meeting on the implementation of TS-BPass.

The State government has been implementing TS-BPass in municipalities and corporations in the state as per the new Municipal Act with an aim to bring transparency in the building permissions for the citizens in towns.

The minister wanted the officials to get ready for the implementation of TS-bPass from the first week of June across the State.

The TS-BPass would allow a citizen to construct a house through self-certification if the dwelling is to be built within 75 square yards.

The Minister stated that the TS-BPass is being implemented in 87 municipalities on a trial basis. While the officials have been verifying the applications, a few buildings have already received permissions.

About 1,100 applications were received in several municipalities and municipal corporations in the State.

He asked the officials to upgrade the required infrastructure and enhance the training for the employees to ensure hassle-free transactions.

KTR instructed the municipal administration and urban development officials to call for a meeting within two days with district collectors, revenue officials, and town planning officials from the GHMC limits for awareness and also for sharing experiences in the ULBs (urban local bodies).

He asked the officials to work towards providing online approvals, once the complete system falls in place.

The minister instructed the officials to provide various online options (Mee Seva centers, Mobile App) for the citizens to send in their applications, apart from the offline registrations.

The minister suggested that the officials set up a call centre for providing support the applicants who cannot make online applications. He expressed happiness over the present software system used for the approval system.

He also asked the officials to make necessary upgrades of the software based on the feedback given by the officials from the ground.
