Hyderabad: Two more structures at the historic Qutb Shahi tombs have been refurbished. The US Consulate General, Hyderabad, funded the Aga Khan Foundation that had taken up the conservation works of the tombs.

In February 2019, Ambassador Juster announced a $103,000 grant through the Ambassador's Fund for cultural preservation, partnering with the Aga Khan Foundation, to restore and conserve the centuries-old tombs of Taramati and Premamati within the greater Qutb Shahi Tombs complex.

This is the second grant awarded by the US government for conservation work at the Qutb Shahi Tombs. An earlier AFCP grant of $101,000, awarded in 2014, contributed to mapping and documenting structures at the site and helped transform archaeologists' understanding the monument's earliest architecture.

On Tuesday, the US Ambassador to India, Kenneth I Juster said "It is very important to restore the cultural heritage of India. I am delightful to see these tombs restored successfully."
