K Keshav Rao sure, Hetero chief front runner for Rajya Sabha
Hyderabad: With barely six days left for filing of nominations, lobbying for the two Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana has intensified.
Elections to these two seats would be held on March 26 and March 16 happens to be the last date for nominations. As the date for nominations is fast approaching, the anxiety among the aspirants is increasing. The two retiring members are TRS leader K Keshava Rao and MA Khan of Congress.
Since TRS is learnt to have decided to re-nominate Keshav Rao, the race is on for the remaining seat. It was felt that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao may agree to send former Nizamabad MP K Kavitha to the Rajya Sabha.
Her articulatory skills and her performance in Parliament during her tenure as MP, it was felt would help the party in many ways.
But if the Chief Minister goes by caste equations, then Kavitha may not be given the ticket since J Santosh who also happens to be a close relation of KCR is a member of the Rajya Sabha. Santosh is a Velama.
One of the front runners for the remaining one seat, according to party sources, are B Parthasarathy Reddy of Hetero Drugs.
Others in the race are D Damodar Rao and J Rameshwar Rao of My Home Group. If Kavitha is kept out of the Rajya Sabha on account of caste equations, sources say that Damodar Rao and Rameshwar Rao may also not get it since they too are from the same community.
This may prove advantageous to Parthasarathy Reddy, who is said to be close to MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao.
