Khammam: Thalaseemia patients seek help for donors
Khammam: Thalassemia patients are seeking help for donors and government for purchasing medicines as each patient has to spend Rs 6 to 8,000 for medicines per month.
In the wake of corona virus crises most of the patients are unable to purchase medicines as they are belonging to poor families. According to records as many as 550 thalassemia patients are in erstwhile Khammam district and out of them 220 patients are being provided medicines and blood by Sankalpa Volunteer organization in Khammam since 2010.
Till few day ago, the thalassemia patients have faced blood shortage but fortunately there is no blood shortage now for patients who are in sankalpa volunteer organization in Khammam as more donors are coming forward to donate blood but patients who are in other places are facing blood shortage too. Patients have to go Hyderabad for administering blood for every 15 to 20 days.
In this lock down situation the patients are facing very tough situation the patients are not in position to bear transport expenditures and for medicines.
