Kothagudem: Three militia members arrested
Kothagudem: Cherla police have arrested three militia members of the banned Maoist party on Monday.
According to Chela Circle Inspector Ashok, as per the instructions of District Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt, police and CRPF Battalion were conducting vehicle checking at Pedamidisileru village under Cherla mandal. Police were on alert as Maoists were conducting
People's Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) Week from December 2 and conducting more vehicle checking in the mandal, he informed.
During vehicle checking, they found three persons moving suspiciously and trying to escape on the village road. Cops chased the trio and took them into custody. After interrogation, they confessed that they were militia members working for the banned Maoist party for the last three years. They were identified as Bheemaraju alias Rakesh, belonging to Kristapurampadu; Sunnam Nageswara Rao alias Muthaiah, belonging to Bhattinapalli village, and Velkam Pentaiah. The trio said that they used to inform police movements to the Maoists and working under Maoist leaders Rajitha and Madhu, the CI informed.
The trio were involved in the BT road blasting at Pedamidisileru village. They were going to the forest to set booby traps to kill the police.
The police seized six booby traps and wall posters of Maoists from them.
CI Ashok warned the people not to help Maoists and if anyone helps the Maoists, serious action will be taken against them.
