KUDA has potential to grow: Errabelli Dayakar Rao

Warangal: The Directors and Advisory Board Members need to work in tandem for the all-round growth of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA), Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said.

He was speaking at the swearing in ceremony of the advisory members - M Shivashankar, D Ravinder, B Ailaiah, Ch Raju Goud, Nakka Lingaiah, Yadav, Elagam Srinivas, M Praveen, Sarwar, Vanam Reddy, N Ramesh Yadav, B Shankar Naik, Akula Kumaraswamy, B Yadagiri, Ravinder and V Raj Kumar – here on Sunday.

"The KUDA has plenty of funds at its disposal; hence, the KUDA board needs to focus on development activity in its limits. The board has to strategise its planning so as to the growing needs of the denizens," Errabelli said, accusing the previous governments in combined State of neglecting the development of Warangal.

Referring to the KUDA's plan to mobilise Rs 1,000 crore for its developmental activity, the Minister expressed confidence that the urban body would make it to its target. "Kakatiya Mega Textile Park has got a fillip after the Youngone Corporation of Korea has decided to set up its unit with an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore.

It will provide employment to at least 10,000 directly and indirectly. On the other hand, agriculture sector in the region to have heydays with the completion of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP)," the Minister said. The Draft Master Plan-2041 will soon be rolled out in the New Year, he said. The Minister said that he would strive to convince Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to release Rs 200 crore for the KUDA.

Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar said that since its inception in 1982, KUDA has witnessed a tremendous growth. It has earned Rs 450 crore since the formation of Telangana, he added. Spread over seven Assembly constituencies in its limits, KUDA is one of the biggest entities in the State, he said, appealing to one and all to cooperate for the productivity of the urban development authority.

KUDA Chairman Marri Yadava Reddy, MP Pasunuri Dayakar, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao, legislators T Rajaiah, V Sathish Kumar, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, Farmers Debt Relief Commission Chairman Nagurla Venkateshwarlu, Warangal Urban District Collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil and Project Officer E Ajith Reddy were among others present.
