Turkapally (Yadadri-Bhongir): In a sad incident, one person drowned in Kaleshwaram canal while taking bath as part of tenth day ritual of his deceased brother-in-law's (sister's husband) father. The incident took place at Turkapally mandal head quarter and the deceased was identified as Puthagalla Suresh (30) of Siddipet district residing at Malkajgiri in Hyderabad.

According to sources, Talari Ramesh son of Talari Sailu of Turkapally was married to daughter of Narsimha, native of Maktha Milaram of Vargal mandal in Siddipet district. They were residing at Vinayak Nagar of Malkajgiri in Hyderabad for the last 20 years.

Ramesh's father Sailu (72) died 10 days ago due to ill health and Suresh along with his brother and parents came to Turkapally to attend the rituals. Suresh allegedly was washed away when he entered to take bath in Kaleshwaram project phase 15 canal which is 20 meters deep and brimming with recent rains.

Even though Suresh knew swimming he drowned because he was an inebriated state and unable to swim to safety, locals opined. Local youth tried their level best to trace out Suresh but in vain. Searching operations were underway in the aegis of Turkapally SI Venkataiah.
