Mayor gives ear to grievances of residents during Nagara Bata

Warangal: In a bid to infuse new work culture into the functioning of the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao on Saturday launched 'Nagara Bata' (city visit) to listen to denizens' grievances and to sort them out.

The Mayor who started his Nagra Bata programme in Division 1 inspected CKM College-Arepally road and interacted with the locals. He told the officials to widen the road by laying wet mix on side berms so that to avoid accidents. He assured the locals to develop Paidipally village, a merged village of GWMC.

"Each division in the Corporation will get Rs 50 lakh for developmental works. This apart, Rs 5 lakh will be allocated for each division to carry out emergency works. Central lighting works will be taken up soon with the help of MLA and MP local area development (LAD) funds," Prakash Rao said.

He said that the Master Plan-2041 that is to be approved soon will change the face of the city. The work on proposed Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, that will likely generate thousands of jobs, is a boon for Warangal, he added.

Referring to the visit of Airport Authority of India (AAI) a few days ago, the Mayor said that conditions are favourable for the revival of Mamnoor airport. "With developmental works under Smart City Mission, Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY), and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), in addition to the special development funds from the State government, are in progress, the day is not far that the Warangal city would become next destination after Hyderabad," Prakash Rao said.

He said that people 57 years can avail Aasara pension. The government will give Aasara pensions to all those eligible, he added. Municipal Commissioner N Ravi Kiran, Division 1 Corporator Veera Bikshapathy, additional commissioner Ch Nageshwar, SE Bikshapathy and MHO Dr Raja Reddy were among others who accompanied the Mayor during the Nagara Bata.
