Nursing staff flee ICU leaving babies inside

Hyderabad: Shine Children's Hospital was established in 2014. Two paediatricians took permission from Rangareddy DMHO at that time to start the hospital catering to the treatment of newborn and children.

The hospital was a G+3 construction reportedly in 150 square yards.

The Health department officials, who visited the place to enquire about the accident could only check the cellar, where the nitrogen and oxygen cylinders were kept along with a generator.

They could not proceed to check the other three floors as police have reportedly locked them entirely for clues collection.

The ICU unit had only babies and sisters on duty with parents not allowed to stay inside generally.

According to sources, the nurses fled fearing for their lives and the security also did not react swiftly to rescue the children in the ICU. By the time, patients and relatives could barge in and take the babies outside enough damage was done.
