Officials seize 60 lakh worth spurious seeds in Bibinagar

Bibinagar (Yadadri-Bhongir): Officials of Agriculture and Vigilance department raided a warehouse located near Brahmanapally of Bibinagar mandal and seized Rs 60 lakh worth spurious seed bags labelled in the name of Mudra seeds.

According to sources, a few persons established a warehouse at Brahmanapally village in the name of Mudra Seeds Private Limited and started selling the seeds to farmers of Telangana and other States.

On a tip-off, the officials of Agriculture department and police jointly raided the warehouse and examined the records. Later speaking to the media, the officials informed that the particular company did not secure any permission from agriculture department besides seed cleansing permission. They seized Rs 60 lakh worth fake seeds labelled in the name of Mudra seeds and also seized the warehouse. A detailed probe will be conducted into the matter, informed the officials.

Assistant Director of Agriculture department Dev Singh, officials Padma, Venkateshwarlu and Ali Khan, Vigilance SI Ravi and others took part in the raids.
