Priyanka Reddy's Parents sore with cops over tepid response
Hyderabad: Priyanka Reddy's parents on Friday alleged that the police did not respond appropriately while they were searching for their daughter.
Priyanka's father Sridhar Reddy, while addressing the media said, " Because the police did not respond appropriately, we went to the spot to search for Priyanka."
He alleged that the police behaved rudely when they went to file a missing report and passed judgment that she might have gone out with a boyfriend.
Priyanka's mother alleged that the police instead of filing a missing report asked them to visit the Police Station of their area citing jurisdiction problems due to which they wasted 2-3 hours unnecessarily.
"Had we not gone between station to station and wasted precious time, we could have saved my daughter," she said. With tears in her eyes, she said that she lost her right hand.
" We made plans for her marriage as she was going to settle within two months. Unfortunately, this brutal incident occurred and took our Priyanka away," she said.
It is unfortunate that there was no proper mechanism to protect women from these psychic animals. She added that after losing her elder daughter she is now scared for the well-being of her younger daughter and insisted that she would have to rethink whether it is safe for her to continue her job since she works night shifts.
Priyanka's uncle Narayan Reddy demanded that the government bring drastic changes in the law. He said since no time bound investigation and action is taken, offenders were taking it as a chance to commit brutal offences due to which the crime rate is increasing day by day.
He emphasised on the need to abolish the jurisdiction problems and urged the government and police department to help the complainants when they approach the police stations and register a case without citing jurisdiction issues.
The police can then alert the personnel of different police stations, he said.
