Seven policemen face protestors' wrath
Hyderabad: Nearly seven police personnel and many protestors sustained injuries in the 'Chalo Tank Bund' by TSRTC JAC employees in Hyderabad on Saturday. Around 1,266 protestors were arrested.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of TSRTC employees supported by some frontal organisations of Maoists and their friendly organisations like PDSU, RSU and Opposition parties sought permission for 'Chalo Tank Bund', but the permission was denied by local DCP and rejection orders in writing were served to the applicant.
However, in violation of the rejection of the permission, striking employees came from the different districts of Telangana and tried to storm Tank Bund.
But they were prevented by the police successfully. Consequently, the agitators resorted to pelting stones in which Additional DCP Ramachandra, ACP Chikkadpally Ch Sreedhar, Sub-Inspector M Shekhar, police constable Raju, ACP Ratnam, Saifabad SHO Saidi Reddy sustained injuries, he added.
"To stop the protestors the police resorted to mild lathi-charge following which soon the crowd dispersed.
Specific IPC cases were registered against the agitators who participated in stone-pelting and mob violence and the leaders who led them," Commissioner said.
