Solving problems of poor should be top priority: K Taraka Rama Rao

Hyderabad: K Taraka Rama Rao, the Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, who was the chief guest at the pre-valedictory function, gave away course completion certificates to 140 trainee civil servants who attended the 94th foundation course conducted by Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana under the aegis of LBSNAA, Mussoorie and DoPT, Government of India. He also gave away prizes to the winners in different academic and non-academic competitions.

In his keynote address, KTR said that India's mindboggling growth on multiple fronts is praiseworthy in its own right. However, he added, that such basic problems as access to electricity, potable water, toilets, road connectivity, etc. continue to haunt people, especially the weaker sections of society in rural areas.

He, therefore, called upon the young civil servants to find enduring solutions to these problems as their priority number one. APVN Sarma, former advisor to TS Governor, who was the guest of honour, advised the young civil servants to ensure that their decisions were not only in the interests of people but were also sound from the legal perspective.

BP Acharya, DG, Dr MCR HRD Institute, said that the top civil servants, whose number is a mere 10,000, from out of a staggering about two crore employees, have got the rare opportunity to bring a qualitative change in the lives of people across the country.
