State seeks Central fund push to NHs improvement

Hyderabad: Minister for Roads and Buildings of Telangana State, V Prashanth Reddy, here on Monday appealed to Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to sanction improvement of geometrics of Hyderabad-Bengaluru section of National Highway (NH) 44 at a cost of Rs 309 crore and NH upgradation of Gundla Pochampally-Bowenpally section (Nagpur-Hyderabad section) at a cost of Rs 447 crore.

V Prashanth Reddy also urged the Union Minister to sanction Rs 706 crore for the improvement of geometrics of Nagpur-Hyderabad section.

Minister V Prashanth Reddy, who attended a meeting called by the Union Minister on radio frequency tags for commercial transport vehicles today also sought taking up the pending projects under "Bharatmala Pariyojana" (four laning of NH 163 from ORR Appa Junction to Manneguda and four laning of the NH from Kodad to Khammam.

V Prashanth Reddy also sought upgradation of five State roads as national highways-Hyderabad to Kothagudem, Medak-Rudrur, Bodhan-Bhainsa, Medak-Elkathurthy and Choutuppal-Kandi and also increase in the NH annual plan sanction for the State.

V Prashanth Reddy also asked the Centre to release of pending funds for maintenance works of highways.
