Sunitha Lakshma Reddy all set to join TRS

Medak: The stage is all set for joining of the District Congress Committee (DCC) president V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy, a former Minister, in the ruling TRS party soon. Her meeting with TRS executive president KT Rama Rao on Tuesday confirmed the news about her leaving the Congress Party. Earlier, there were also reports doing rounds that she would be joining the BJP.

DK Aruna and Bandaru Dattatreya had been in touch with her until the last day of filing nominations. When she turned down the offer from the saffron party, they gave the ticket to Raghunandan Rao. It gives a clear indication that Sunitha may join the pink party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Important leaders of the region and key followers of Sunitha Lakshma Reddy confirmed that she had met KTR and held discussions with him. "The TRS leaders are inviting her to join in their party. But she did not say anything," said her nephew Santhosh Reddy. Several party activists also met her to know about her status.

One of the activists who had met her said the same thing that she did not announce her decision yet. After discussing with followers and cadre, she will take decision, he revealed. Participating in the Lok Sabha election campaign, local legislator Madan Reddy said he would welcome Sunitha Laxma Reddy if she joins TRS party.

In fact, the Congress party made Sunitha as in- charge of the Medak Lok Sabha constituency. With the process of filing of nominations coming to an end, the action has been designed to give a big boost to the Congress campaign. But, the developments propelled the party to take action by placing her under suspension.

The campaign has been going on for the past few days. On March 25, Congress candidate G Anil Kumar filed his nominations. A public meeting was held on this occasion. The event was attended by party promotion-campaign committee chairman Vijaya Shanthi and executive chairman Jetti Kusuma Kumar. But, Sunitha did not attend this meeting, saying she was unwell.

This is definitely a blow to Congress party before the Lok Sabha elections as Sunitha had been president of the old district of Medak for a longtime. TPCC Executive President Jetti Kusuma Kumar made it clear that this decision was taken by the disciplinary committee, as it was committed to maintain discipline and curb anti-party activities in the party.

The Congress has nothing to lose if anyone leaves the party, he added. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will attend the election campaign in Narsapur on April 3 and Sunitha may join the TRS at the same venue.
