Suspense continues over custody of Sindhu’s eldest daughter

Hyderabad: Sindhu Sharma, who filed dowry harassment case against retired judge Justice Noothi Ram Mohan Rao and his family members, including her husband, has kept her fingers cross over the custody of her eldest daughter Rishitha. The Women Police Station at Central Crime station (CCS) registered cases under Sections 498 (A), 323 of IPC and Section 4 and 6 of Dowry Prohibition Act.

When her husband and retired judge were not willing to hand over her two daughters Rishitha and Srividya to her, Sindhu Sharma with the support of women's organisations protested on Sunday in front of the retired judge's residence at Jubilee Hills. She secured the custody of her 18-month-old younger daughter with the help of the officials of the Childline and the police.

Her efforts to get the custody of her elder daughter proved futile so far. Childline officials told Sindhu in the presence of additional DCP, CCS G Jogaiah, legal advisor of Sindhu, women organisations and Balala Hakkula Sangham representatives that they would hand over the elder daughter to the mother after completion of some legal formalities like verifying whether she is is below 5 years of age or above.

Speaking to The Hans India, M V Sharma, father of Sindhu Sharma, said they had sent the scanned copies of all the documents which confirmed the age of his granddaughter Rishitha to prove that she is below 5 years of age.

But there is no response from the Childline officials and police till now even two days after submitting all the required documents. Sharma urged the officials concerned to expedite the issue and hand over the child to Sindhu.Meanwhile, the women's organisations are again planning to stage a protest in front of Childline Centre at Saifabad for the justice of Sindhu.
