Telangana: Congress raises pitch for scrapping of LRS
Hyderabad: The Congress party has demanded the TRS government to scrap the LRS (Layout Regularisation Scheme) at least now after the mandate given by the people in GHMC elections. Irrespective of the party's performance the national party vowed to fight for issues of the people.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the party would internally review the poll performance. Whatever mistakes done would be debated and discussed thoroughly, Bhatti said. He appealed to party cadre not to get demoralised as these are one-off results.
Replying to a query about rumours of senior leader Jana Reddy shifting loyalties towards BJP, Bhatti found fault with social media postings which he said was far from the truth.
Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy pointed out that LRS had burdened the public and hence should be scrapped by the government. He demanded the government to ensure every flood affected family gets the relief amount or else Congress would lay siege to Pragati Bhavan and GHMC offices.
Former minister and senior leader Jeevan Reddy said that TRS government should wake up and stop taking anti-people decisions in view of the fitting lesson taught to it in GHMC polls.
