Telangana out to ensure glitch-free Inter results
Hyderabad: The Centre for Good Governance (CGG) will deploy a two-tier technology - URI and ICR technologies for processing and publication of Intermediate Public Examination -2020 (IPE-2020) results.
The decision was taken because of the errors occurred in the publication of the IPE-2019 results, followed by the incidents of 25 students ending their lives. Against this backdrop, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had directed the State Education Department and the TSBIE to ensure a flawless processing of the examination results.
Following this, the TSBIE and the SED have roped in the CGG to help them out in the processing and publication of IPE-2020 results.
According to the CGG sources, after an in-depth study of the earlier processes, it was decided to deploy Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) technology and the ICR Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) technology. The ICR was chosen as it was used earlier for processing the results. Clarifying on this, the Director-General of CGG, Rajendra Nimje said that the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) readers have been deployed for capturing the data on the OMR sheets that students submit along with their answer sheets. Also, the ICR also captures the handwriting for the computer for processing to improve accuracy and recognition levels.
That apart, the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) technology which provides for a system of mechanism for unambiguous identification of a particular resource in a given namespace.
Both were tested twice, once at in front of the TSBIE officials at its office and secondly at the internal testing laboratories of the CGG. It was only after the passage of the testing stage that the CGG has decided to adopt both the technologies. According to the action plan, the IPE-2020 results will be separately processed running on both the technologies. "If any variance in the outcome results is found even in a single case, then, it would be immediately referred to the TSBIE officials.
The result would be uploaded only after the TSBIE clears giving the correct results of a student. This is how the CGG, TSBIE and the SED want to ensure that IPE results are error-free.
However, the Special Chief Secretary (Education) Chitra Ramachandran said that the SED and the TSBIE have taken every possible measure at their disposal to ensure the results are error-free. So far, there are no glitches reported in the process of students downloading their hall tickets, she added.
That apart, TSBIE Secretary, Syed Omer Jaleel said examiners of answer scripts at the spot valuation centres are provided training on Monday. They were told about the do's and don'ts while correcting the answer scripts.
