Telangana SED to roll out own online classes soon

Hyderabad: The State Education Department (SED) is all set to launch its own online classes to the students studying in the government schools.

According to sources in the SED, a decision to this effect has been taken following the ongoing uncertainty in reopening of the schools due to the increasing number of Covid cases in the State.

Also, the department wanted not to lag behind the private institutions to lure away students which would affect the enrollment numbers in the government schools in the State.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior SED official said no official directions issued so far for the launching of the online classes to the students of government schools. However, steps have already been taken to roll out the online classes shortly. Some of the District Education Officers (DEOs) have already been asked to work in this direction.

For example, in the Medchal District, the education department is all set to launch the online classes in a week-time. For this, the department had roped in the Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS) and another entity to develop necessary eco-system to roll out the online classes.

Giving details of the online classes' solution for the Medchal district, the official said that the online classes being developed would be helpful to all students. It will have all necessary materials in the digital, audio and video formats developed by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). They include free e-books designed and developed for different classes covering the State syllabus, the official said.

Also, the online classes will have a simple format providing a login facility for teachers and parents. In turn, any student registering their names can freely access the classes and all the audio, video and other digital materials covering the topics of their class textbooks.
