The app helps Bhupalpally, Mulugu districts to attract more tourists

Bhupalpally/Mulugu: The River Godavari that crisscrosses huge swathes of forest abutting Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts is a treasure trove of many historic and laidback destinations. Since the formation of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in 2016, there has been a constant effort by the Forest Department to tap the tourism potential in the region.

Initially, the Forest Department that targeted new age tourists who eye recreational holidays, had rolled out a diverse ecotourism calendar. The idea behind the ecotourism calendar is to bring the exotic locations of the region to the limelight by organising events such as trekking, rock climbing and other adventure sports, besides keeping in mind the interests of those longing to explore the archaeological landmarks.

Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu districts together have some exhilarating laidback destinations such as Laknavaram Lake, Bogatha Waterfalls, Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary, Pandavula Guttalu, besides historic Ramappa, Medaram Sammakka Saralamma, Mallur and Gattamma temples.

To popularise these locations and to provide information about them, the Forest Department has come up with an android app 'DFA Bhupalpally'. The app was also designed so that the authorities can monitor the work taken up by the department.

To help the tourists and also monitor the works of the officials the district forest administration has come up with an android application which can show the tourists the information regarding ecotourism locations and also help them with bookings. At the same time, the officials can also update their day to day works which can be monitored by the heads of departments.

Speaking to The Hans India, the District Forest Officer (Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Mulugu) S V Pradeep Kumar Setty said: "We are determined to promote tourism in the region thereby boosting the local economy. The app which has a lot of information is of immense help to tourists. All that they need to do is to download the app from Play Store and register their details."

It may be mentioned here that the app has detailed information about Bogatha waterfalls, Blackberry islands, Laknavaram Lake, Muktivanam, Pandavula Guttalu and Tadvai huts. "The tourists can also make their booking for their stay in Laknavaram, Tadvai huts, a trek to Blackberry islands and rock climbing at Pandavula gutta," he said.

The DFO said that the app also helps them monitor the works such as plantation, trenching, action against illegal activities etc updated by the foresters.

It's learnt that the app which is likely to include more utilities in the near future is one-stop station as it has information about nearest city, bus station, railway station etc. The app also has timer depot information and complaint register.
