Turkapally (Yadadri-Bhongir): Despite providing hygienic food, including eggs and milk to children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, the government is sometimes garnering negative publicity due to the negligent attitude of contractors who supply the ration to the Anganwadi centres.

On Wednesday, pregnant women and lactating mothers along with villagers staged a protest in front of local Anganwadi centre of Rustapur village of Turakapaly mandal in the district alleging the contractor of supplying spoilt milk packets.

Upon receiving information, District Welfare Officer Krishnaveni and CDPO Chandrakala rushed to the village and visited the Anganwadi centre.

Speaking to the media, the District Welfare Officer informed that the concerned contractor had supplied 54 litres of milk in tetra packets on August 17 to the Anganwadi centre and they found the milk spoilt. Stringent action would be taken against the respective contractor, she promised.

Local MPTC Mohan Babu Naik visited the Anganwadi centre and demanded the officials to take stern action against the contractor. Anganwadi centre supervisor Anitha Kumari, workers Shyamala, villagers and beneficiaries took part in the protest.
