Wait for Master Plan to continue?

Warangal/Hyderabad: It appears that denizens' wait for the Master Plan-2041 of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) is to extend further, if one goes by the information available from Hyderabad.

It's been four-and-a-half decade since the last master plan came into force in the city. Thereafter, the successive governments failed to roll out a new master plan; this despite Warangal has witnessed a phenomenal growth all these years. It may be recalled here that the first Master Plan came into existence in 1971. According to norms, a master plan should be revised after every 15 years.

The KUDA authorities that set many a deadline finally released the draft Master Plan – 2041 on May 14, 2018 and gave a window of 90 days for the stakeholders to come up with their suggestions and objections. Since then, the KUDA authorities have been waiting for the approval to the draft master plan from the State Government.

In a review meeting held in September last year, MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao told the officials to give final touches to the draft master plan after studying irrigation tanks, roads and colonies. He also expressed the necessity of appointing a nodal officer and need for coordination with the local people's representatives to elicit field-level feedback.

Against this backdrop, the high-level meeting chaired by the Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao that discussed at length about it in Hyderabad on Tuesday. He advised the authorities to improve the draft master plan so that essay the future growth of the region, especially the tri-cities of Warangal-Hanamkonda-Kazipet. The meet also discussed about the linking of Inner Ring Road, Outer Ring Road and National Highways. It was also decided to initiate an action against those encroached tanks and water bodies in the KUDA limits. The meet also discussed about the revival of Mamnoor Airport.
