Warangal: Wearing a smile RTC staff re-join duties
Warangal: With the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ending the impasse over the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) staff's strike, the employees appeared a happy bunch as they resumed duties right from the early hours of Friday, after a span of 55 days. It may be mentioned here that employees went on strike on October 5 to press for various demands, including the demand to merge the TSRTC with the government.
Sporting a smile, the employees started to reach the bus depots from 4.30 am and signed their duty charts. In all, nearly 4,200 employees belonging to Warangal, Hanamkonda, Narsampet, Parkal, Bhupalpally, Jangaon, Mahabubabad and Thorrur depots reported to duty, according to RTC officials.
The employees thanked the Chief Minister for allowing them to re-join unconditionally. The employees also expressed happiness with the assurance given by the State government to rescue the sinking ship of the RTC.
Although the employees welcomed the Chief Minister's decision to revive the RTC, some of the employees expressed dissatisfaction over K Chandrashekar Rao's remarks on RTC unions. The government and the unions must work together for the welfare of the workers, said an employee of the Warangal depot.
Another employee said that he was hopeful of government looking after their welfare even though the strike did not yield any result for the staff. Finally, the misery of people especially those living in remote parts of the erstwhile Warangal district has come to an end.
