Rajahmundry : Union Minister of State for Tourism Chiranjeevi said here Wednesday that the state should be bifurcated only after ensuring equal justice to all the regions.

Speaking to the media, he demanded that the issues like water, education and development of backward areas in the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions should be resolved first before going ahead with the bifurcation of the state.

However, he opined that it was not correct to blame only the congress party as all parties gave letters in support of bifurcation. He arrived in Rajahmundry on Wednesday to attend a private programme.

Later, the Union Minister visited Havelock Bridge (Old Railway Bridge) at Pushkar ghat on Godavari bund. Describing the bridge as jewel for the people of the region, he said it would be developed as a theme park. He said he opposed the dismantling the bridge when he held discussions with the railway authorities.

Chiranjeevi said the Railway Ministry has asked the Rail India Technical and Economic Services Ltd ( RITES) study the aspects like strength and durability and added that it would submit the report in 45 days. He assured that tourism department would pay the due amount to the railways.

He became reminisced that he has also special bond with the Havelock Bridge as the people of Godavari districts are having with the historical bridge. He said the present Union Minister for Railways Mallikharjuna Kharge was positive to make the bridge as tourist spot unlike Mamata Banerjee and Lalu Prasad Yadav who opposed the idea in the past.

The Union Minister said an Eco Park would be set up in Pichhukallanka, an island in Godavari by handing it over to Kadiyam nurseries. He said that a mega project would be developed from Papikondalu to Konaseema with Rs 50 crore.
