Sort out water issue with TS through talks: Ramakrishna
CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna sought the Chief Ministers of the two Telugu speaking states stop bickering on the water issue and resolve it amicably through discussion. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Ramakrishna found fault with the two Chief Ministers for not taking initiatives to resolve burning issues but only meeting each other during Yagami and dinners.
Tirupati: CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna sought the Chief Ministers of the two Telugu speaking states stop bickering on the water issue and resolve it amicably through discussion. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Ramakrishna found fault with the two Chief Ministers for not taking initiatives to resolve burning issues but only meeting each other during Yagami and dinners.
Accusing the Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of acting in an inviting manner which would rekindle hostility between the people of the two Telugu speaking States even as they are recovering from the ill-feelings following the division of Andhra Pradesh, the CPI leader said that the Telangana government should immediately stop unauthorised construction of the projects as per the directives of the Central Water Commission (CWC).
He observed that the illegal projects would hit the backward Rayalaseema more and sought Chandrababu Naidu to focus on getting surplus waters of Krishna and Godavari rivers to the State for utilising at Rayalaseema. He further stated that Chandrababu Naidu received nothing from his Delhi trip and accused him of hoodwinking people through his claims of fruitful discussion on 12 items beneficial to the State.
The CPI leader also demanded Naidu make public those items he had discussed with the Prime Minister and others in New Delhi. He further said that Naidu was not able to press Modi govt on vital issues like special category status, etc. He said that `Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi’ would meet in Guntur on May 25 to discuss and chalk out the future course of action to build pressure on the State and Centre for achieving the Special Category Status.
