Kakinada: ONGC, the foremost public sector undertaking and an ace oil and gas exploration and production company on Tuesday conducted Bomb Threat and fire mock drill at busy Subhadra Arcade in Bhanugudi Junction of Kakinada where it has its Eastern Offshore Asset Headquarters.
The mock drill was a part of the security awareness week which ONGC had been observing. Significantly the local Police, Bomb squad and the State fire services whole heartedly participated to make this drill a success.
A bomb threat was received at ONGC Radio Room at 11 pm. The ONGC security and fire setup was put on highest alert and emergency response procedures were activated immediately.
Evacuation took place in all the floors. Other occupants of the building were informed about the bomb threat received at ONGC Establishment and asked them to muster at Assembly Station.
After a bomb that exploded, Fire Fighting and Search operations were launched at the spot. During the search operations two ‘casualties’ were found. The injured persons were shifted to the nearby hospital. Fire brought under control.
The session was chaired officiating Asset Manager of ONGC Mr. Sridhar District Fire Officer T Uday Kumar attended the Session and participated interactively with all fire and security personnel.
The mock drill was a successful attempt of the responsible corporate ONGC, Kakinada to demonstrate its security and safety preparedness and its well networked association with state forces. ONGC thanked local shopkeepers and offices for their support and cooperation.
