The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) will introduce smart meters to its consumers in Visakhapatnam for the first time in the State, said TV Surya Prakash, General Manager of APEPDCL in Visakhapatnam.
Bhimavaram: The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) will introduce smart meters to its consumers in Visakhapatnam for the first time in the State, said TV Surya Prakash, General Manager of APEPDCL in Visakhapatnam.
He inaugurated the two-day Sankalp-2016 National level Student Symposium at SRKR Engineering College on Tuesday.
The College EEE wing Head P Kantha Rao presided over the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Surya Prakash said that with the erection of the smart meters, meter reading and load control will be done without visiting the consumer's houses.
After implementing this system in Visakhapatnam, second phase the EPDCL will install the smart meters in Kakinada. After that the system will be adopted all over the State, he added. He said that the solar power consumption is on high in the State and this will save the power up to 47.4 million units per month.
He also said that the solar units will also be arranging in big educational institutions adding that earlier to establish a one Megawatt unit, the EPDCL has to spend Rs.13 Crores. Now, it has come down to six crores only.
