Visakhapatnam: Rare collection of books on various topics collected by the late Abburi Gopalakrishna donated to Andhra University Human Resource Development Centre here on Thursday.

Abburi Goplakrishna, a who had carved a niche in paintings, literary research and playwright and did PhD on ‘Tallapaka Annamacharya and Yakshagana Tradition’. He had served as head of the department of theatre arts, Andhra University.

While donating the books to university UGC-HRD Centre, Abburi Prameela, wife of Abburi Goplakrishna, said that her husband and father-in-law Abburi Ramakrishna Rao had associated with Andhra University since its inception. She hoped that the books would help the teaching community while attending the refresher programmes at HRD Centre.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao thanked the Abburi family members for donating rare books and felicitated Abburi Prameela.

He said that Abburi Ramakrishna Rao and his son Abburi Gopalakrishna had contributed to university even after their death. He hoped that the books donation would be a new direction to others to donate valuable books to university.
