Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stressed the need to empower rural India with digital technology for their economic development. Addressing a seminar on Open Innovation Hackathon (Forum-India) on Building Smart Villages at KL University in Guntur district on Thursday, the Chief Minister asserted that in two to three years, state would become hub for IT and Internet of Things(IoT) and added that the government would be liking technology to enable real time governance.

Maintaining that the state tops country in utilitising It and IoT, the Chief Minister said that if the state cannot do it, no one else can do it in the country. “We have created an eco-system in our state. Even in US, American governments are not using technology efficiently in governance. In AP, we are using the technology more efficiently than private companies,” he claimed.

Detailing about the innovations in IoT being implemented by his government, Naidu said that under people hub, data of every family was available and all government departments were brought under common platform - e-pragathi. “I can proudly say for the first time in the world, from the dash board setup at my office I can know everything of my government performance,” he said.

He said that the government is developing 400 villages in five districts as smart villages with the help of e-governance. “We have identified the ways to improve the income sources of the rural people and we are making efforts to create marketing opportunities to the products produced in the villages,” he said. He hoped this type of seminars will be useful for improving the marketing facilities to the rural products.

Reminiscing his childhood days where they even don`t know about the electricity, Naidu said, “In my lifetime I have seen or learnt so many revolutions and for some of the revolutions I am the direct party. When I became Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh for the first time there is IT revolution around the world, which is the third Industrial revolution.
