Grand welcome awaits Prez
After taking charge as President of India, Ram Nath Kovind is visiting Tirumala, for the first time, on Friday. The state government decided to accord grand welcome to first citizen of India. As per the instructions from the Chief Minister’s office, district officials have stationed in Tirupati for the last three days and supervising the arrangements for the President’s tour.

District Collector P S Pradyumna and Anantapur range DIG J Prabhakar Rao, Chittoor and Tirupati Urban SPs jointly conducted advanced security liaison on Thursday in Tirumala and Tirupati. The Urban police deployed over 2,000 police personnel in and around Tirumala and Tirupati including two ghat roads leading to Tirumala.
The roads in temple city, venues to be visited by the President, airport and other important places were placed under tight security from Thursday morning onwards. As per confirmed schedule, Ram Nath Kovind will arrive in Tirupati in a special flight at 3 pm on Friday. Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other dignitaries will welcome the President at the airport. Later, Ram Nath will proceed to Tiruchanur for Goddess darshan.
The President will inaugurate 700-bedded hospital of SVIMS-Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women (SPMCW) on Friday evening. Later, he will attend civic reception being hosted by the state government and public meeting at SV Arts College Grounds.
In the public meeting, the President will lay foundation stone for Dr B R Ambedkar Skill Training Academy (ASTA) and distribute sanction letters to beneficiaries of ‘Stand up India’ scheme. Ram Nath will stay at Padmavathi Guest House on Friday night. He will have darshan of Lord Venkateswara from 6 to 7.30 am on Saturday and proceed to Delhi at 9 am.
