Kadapa: Tension prevailed at Proddatur municipal office with YSRCP MLA Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy entered into a heated argument with the police for not allowing him into the meeting hall where a district-level meeting was held over the beautification of Proddatur town.

According to sources, District Collector T Baburao Naidu and District Superintendent of Police (SP) Attada Babujee have organised a meeting with all departmental heads over beautification of Proddatur town on Thursday.

The problem started when municipal authorities failed to invite either YSRCP MLA or its council members for the meeting. There are over 30 members in the municipal council of which only 20 TDP councillors including former MLA Varadarajulu Reddy were invited for the meeting, while YSRCP councillors were excluded. In this connection, the YSRCP members began protesting in front of the meeting hall leading to the prevailing uneasy situation.

Meanwhile, Proddatur MLA Siva Prasada Reddy, who came to the municipal office around 11 am, tried to enter into the hall but the police stopped him by saying that they have no orders about his entry for the meeting. At this juncture, the situation went out of hand as the MLA quarreled with the police for their overaction.

However, the matter ended with the involvement of the District Collector as the Municipal Commissioner Changanna came out of the meeting hall and invited the MLA and YSRCP councillors for the meeting.

Meanwhile, media persons boycotted the meeting as they were not provided seats for covering the event. The journalists alleged that they came to the meeting even though they were not invited taking into consideration, the interest of the public, but it was unfortunate that they were not provided seats.
